Maintain control of supplies, inventories, consumption and use of all ship stores, equipment and spares.
To monitor consumption of consumable stores and keep machineries consuming lubricants, hydraulic oils, greases etc in good condition and free of leakages for economic consumption, prudent and proper use of paints, varnishes and maintenance items etc., avoidance of wastage, and good use and preservation of items liable to wear and tear.
Negotiate best terms with suppliers, ensuring specification and good quality of supplies, and scrutinize requisitions for supplies from the ship to ensure only necessary items ordered and control costs to within the budget.
